From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Dispatched by office management on 2/18/2009 at approximately 1300 hrs to investigate a reported "prop strike" suffered by one of ballard aviation's PA-28'S operated from bracket field (poc) in pomona, CA. Interviewed the a&p/ia employed by ballard aviation to maintain school aircraft, he had already removed the propeller and cowling from the airplane (N2226N). The nose strut and engine mount were visibly bent. There did not appear to be aircraft sheetmetal structural damage in this instance, except that, which was previously mentioned. According to tower personnel they observed the student-pilot execute a "porpoised" landing that included the airplane being operated in the dirt sodded areas adjacent to the taxiway. Aircraft was then ground taxied to tiedown location and instructor arrived on scene.
