From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) privacy data omitted was doing night recurrency landings at airport, Troutdale, Oregon (ttd). First landing while flare he noticed unusual noise from nose gear area. He aborted landing and went around. On fly by tower reported gear not down. Aircraft was still indicating down and locked to the pilot. Pilot left area to get gear down and then returned for flyby on second flyby tower reported all gears appeared down. N4076N landed without further incident. Pilot noted that the propeller blades were bent on examining aircraft. Additional damage was minimal. Technician inspecting aircraft noted tht the belly rotating beacon and a battery vent line on the belly were also damage but no structure were damaged. The only way the technician could duplicate the condition of the gear being up and the indicating down was by having the aircraft on jacks with the gear up then he held the gear down switch in the down position and when the gear handle was selected down, the gear indicated down and the motor would not run in this configuation and the warning horn does not sound.
