From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A relatively new and low time pilot with a private pilot certificate attempted to land Off Airport in wet and snow covered conditions. Pilot departed merrill airport (mri) on a pleasure flight to the north without filing a flight plan and without a weather briefing. On an attempted full stop landing the gear dug into the snow and the aircraft flipped over on its back. The wing and tail were damaged. The prop struck the ground and the engine had a sudden stopage. The damage is considered substantial. Local weather conditions were VFR.
