From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The aircraft departed Air Sailing Gliderport enroute to cameron park, CA and returned to land after the canopy came lose. The pilot stated that on takeoff the canopy popped open, but that he was able to lock it sufficiently for a safe landing. He added that during the landing flare to runway 03, the canopy popped open again, blocking his forward view of the runway. Physical evidence indicated that the aircraft exited the right side of the runway and twisted around ending up on its nose and main gear, pointing in a northerly direction.
