From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was conducting landing practice in the pattern at Wichita mid-contient airport (kict) in preparation for the commercial pilot practical test. During the takeoff roll on runway 1L the pilot inadvertently placed the gear lever in the up position at or shortly after beginning rotation pressure. The nose gear retracted into the wheel well and the main gear remained on the runway. The pilot heard the gear warning and reacted by relaxing back pressure thus lowering the nose at which time the propeller struck the runway. The pilot decided to abort the takeoff and settled the nose onto the runway causing damage to the nose gear doors and propeller. The pilot had conducted multiple stop and go landings during this flight on runways 1L and 1R prior to the incident. The pilot was not injured.

As the FAA filed it
