From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reported that on landing touchdown (runway 17 at O22) with a light wind from the right the aircraft was aligned with the center line and at proper speed when it veered violently left. He applied full right pedal and brake with his hand control and the airplane skidded hard to the left. The damage to the airplane included the left wing tip, left main landing gear linkage, left wing leading edge and lower surface punctures. This is a wood wing airplane. Slight scuffing of the left vertical stabilizer, bottom surface fabric. The left flap was damaged as well. No injuries occurred and VMC conditions prevailed. The pilot had been issued a statement of demonstrated ability due to the loss of his right leg and had the rudder pedals modified to compensate for this condition. He used hand controls for the right brake.
