From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While practicing engine failure procedures the, pilot in command (PIC), IN the rear seat, lost control of the aircraft and crashed into a soybean field. The PIC alleges that when he applied power to recover from the procedure at approximately 150 ft above ground level, the engine did not respond until just prior to ground contact when it surged and caused the aircraft to yaw so much that he could not overcome it. He states that he feels that touching down in this crabbed condition caused the right main gear attachment to fail. The aircraft was substantially damaged.
