From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

According to the airman, he was taxiing for takeoff on brooks lake near King Salmon, Alaska on 7/25/2009 at approximately 1425 adt (2225Z). As he turned downwind the strong tailwind picked up the tail of his aircraft. He attempted to remedy the situation by using power, but the aircraft continued to "nose over", standing on the nose briefly, then contuing over on it's back. The airman then ordered an evacuation by shouting "get out!" He then assisted his youngest child out. The remaining three members of his family exited the aircraft and all five persons on board remained sitting on the overturned aircraft until park rangers in a boat, along with another float plane arrived within a few minutes to provide assistance. There were no injuries to the four passengers or the airman and the aircraft only received minor damage in the incident, although it received more substantial damage later after floating into a rocky area and being battered by wind and waves.
