From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While landing on runway 33 at West Houston Airport (iws) a Cessna 421A hit hard on the right main landing gear. The impact caused the right hand main gear strut bolts to sheer. The right hand engine propeller to make contact with the runway. The aircraft veered to the right, and left the runway surface; the aircraft traveled across a taxi way and into a drainage ditch. The right hand main gear collapsed and the nose gear was twisted to the left before coming to a stop in the ditch.
