From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot, privacy data omitted took his family for an unauthorized aircraft flight around the Wenatchee area. He took the aircraft without the knowledge, dispatch or permission of the company that owns the airacraft. He stated that he made a pass over the mision ridge ski resort at about 500 feet but was dissatisfied with the altitude and returned for a lower pass. He misjudged the distance from the ground and had to bank away from the mountain to avoid hitting the ground. While he was in that bank his left wing contacted a tree. He then flew to the Wenatchee airport and landed.
