From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Immediately after touchdown on runway 21 at Farmville, Virginia, the aircraft engine surged and the aircraft veered to the left of the runway. The aircraft continued across the grass and across a shallow ditch, struck the airport VASI, and struck a hedgerow of trees and brush. The path of the aircraft from the point it departed the runway to the point it came at rest showed no signs of braking or skidding. The section of left wing outboard of the fuel tank struck a tree and broke off. The aircraft continued through the hedgerow turning sharply to the right and came to rest on its wheels and facing the runway. Preliminary inspection of the engine, throttle, and propeller controls revealed nothing abnormal. Inspection of the aircraft records found nothing other than routine scheduled maintenance. Further investigation of the propeller function is pending.

As the FAA filed it
