From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Flight instructor (pilot-in-command) and "student," a private pilot building complex airplane time towards a commercial certificate, were utilizing runway 9 at Crystal River Airport with the intent of doing several touch and go's. after the first landing at the 1000-foot marker, the "student" began configuring the airplane for take-off. With the intent of raising the flaps to the take-off position, he mistook the landing gear switch for the flap switch and moved it to the "up" position. The nose gear retracted fully, which allowed the propeller to contact the runway, doing damage to all three blades. As the main gear was retracting, it appears that the tires contacted the inner gear doors; and this allowed the main landing gear to retract partially to approximately 3/4 of its full travel. The airplane skidded to a stop at the 1,500-foot marker. Damage was limited to the propeller, landing gear, landing gear doors, and actuator rods and bearings.

As the FAA filed it
