From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The PIC was on a VFR flight in VMC conditions. He reported that he must have dozed off. The aircraft then impacted a farm pond at a low angle and skidded to the waters edge. The pilot sustained a broken jaw and minor cuts and the aircraft was destroyed. A witness to the accident watched the aircraft fly into the ground at a low angle, he then alerted authorities and went to the scene. He talked with the pilot while they waited for the authorities to arrive. The pilot stated that he had dozed off and that there were no mechanical difficulties with the aircraft. The garden county sheriff stated that during the course of his investigation, information that he received gave him reason to belive that the pilot had been intoxicated.
