From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 22, 2009, N7176P, a PA-24-250, departed fmn enroute to camarillo, CA. During climbout, the pilot turned off the electric fuel pump and the engine started to quit. He turned the electric fuel pump back on and returned to kfmn to land. In the pattern, he extended the gear and the gear failed to completely extend. He communicated with the fmn tower and was told that the gear were partially extended. He departed the pattern, slowed the aircraft down and tried to manually extend the gear. When he tried to manually extend the gear, the manual gear extension handle would not move in either direction. He returned to kfmn and landed with the gear partially extended. On touch dowm, the gear retracted. The pilot was the sole occupant and received no injuries. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the undercarriage, gear and propeller.
