From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed from punta gorda airport and enroute to Page Field Airport in Fort Myers; 8 miles and at approximately 1000 feet the pilot's side window departed aircraft. Pilots side window is also utilized as a rescue exit and four pins hold the window in, the pull handle is accessible from both the inside and outside of aircraft. The retaining pins were not bent, all pins retaining blocks except the pin block located at lower back had no visible damage to the block, the lower back pin block was broken off, indicating that this pin was in the block and when the window departed the aircraft it caused the block to break off. The aircraft had minor damage to the leading edge and strut cover, prop had paint scraping. Pilots window was not recovered.
