From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During a simulated power off landing to Kingfisher municipal airport (F92) the pilot under instruction stated he was going to land short. The instructor pilot instructed him to apply full throttle. When the pilot under instruction applied full throttle the engine failed to respond. Instructor attempted to adjust the mixture and reapplied power with no joy. He took the contols and set it down in the grass field approximately 400 feet short of runway. At that time the engine ran up and instructor pulled it off and tried to “hop” fence. Lower engine cowling and exhaust snapped off a fence post. Barb wire caught on main mounts at which point the aircraft came to rest. The fence post also creased the aft right fuselage area approx 20 inches long and 2 inches wide.

As the FAA filed it
