From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While enroute from anoke co-blaine airport (kane) to dalhart municipal airport (kdht), the pilot encountered inflight icing conditions north of Dodge City, Kansas. The pilot stated that the pitot heater failed and caused the airspeed indicator to cease indicating. He diverted to Dodge City regional airport (kddc) and performed an instrument approach to runway 17. The aircraft received substantial damage from the landing at kddc in that the left main landing gear was pushed up through the top of the left wing and the right landing gear and nose gear collapsed. The pilot and passenger received no injurinies.
