What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Captain stated that take off data (v speeds) were predicated on a flaps 20 degree setting for take off. The captain further stated the flaps were inadvertently and incorrectly set to 8 degrees. During the take off roll the captain noticed the flaps were set at 8 degrees and he stated he moved the flap selector to the 20 degree position. He then stated, we got a "config flaps warning" then a "config spoilers warning". He said he did not recall the indicated airspeed but in getting those configuration warnings he aborted take off. The aircraft ran off the end of runway 23 (6300 ft.) and stopped approximately 280 feet into the engineered materials arresting system. (Emas). (405 FTX150).
As the FAA filed it
