From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After departure from lake hood, and during 2500 feet at cruise, oil temperature started increasing. Oil temperature continued increase from 170 thru 200 to 240 degrees. Power was being reduced from 2500 RPM to 1800 RPM with carb heat "on", the temperature remained over 240. Pilot contacted "ATC" to report a precautionary landing. At 1500 RPM during landing, loss of oil pressure with a rough running engine. The landing was at "flat horn" lake without further incident. After adding 3 quarts of oil, the engine would not start. A satellite phone was used to contact recovery personnel.
