From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Incident witnessed by two FAA inspectors and one private citizen. Aircraft (acrosport ii), piloted by mr. Letarte, made a hard landing bouncing 15 to 20 feet into the air before hitting the runway and again bouncing back into the air. On the third touchdown the aircraft began a bouncing oscilliation from the left main tire to the right main tire and back, as it traveled down the runway. The aircraft then left our field of view. As we approached the center of the runway we could see the aircraft off to the right side of the runway in the grass, but was now facing the opposite direction (south). Mr. Letarte was out of the aircraft walking back to the hanger area. Mr. Letarte appeared to be uninjured at this time. As we approached the aircraft we could see the right main gear collapsed under the right wing. The rest of the aircraft appeared to suffer no physical damage. The weather was sunny with a light breeze. Approach was made to runway '1' at the Lebanon/Warren County Airport, Ohio (I68).
