From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot reported conditions were VMC with intermittent mild turbulence. He was on a VFR flight plan with flight following. Weather briefing were obtained from cdc duats online, and updated by flight service by phone immediately before he takeoff. While flying at 10500, the pilot experienced engine problems first manifesting as rising egt's which required increasing fuel flow to maintain correct EGT temperatures. The pilot attempted to change fuel tanks with no change in observed engine operation. He noticed no engine misfires, or roughness. However, about 4 minutes after this event began, he noticed the #3 engine cylinder decreasing in temperature, but no noticeable differences in engine operation. At this point in time he decided to turn toward the nearest airport, (E51) Bagdad Arizona in which he was approximately 16 miles away from regarding his present location and declared an emergency informing ATC that he was having engine difficulties. The pilot was able to land the aircraft with engine power present however, immediately upon making a safe landing, the engine quit operating and he was unable to taxi off the runway. There were no injuries or property damage.
