From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On may 10, 2010, at 1755L, expressjet flt 3044, enroute to houston, TX from omaha, NE, experienced a suspected lightning strike at FL370 while navigating through an area of thunderstorms. The aircraft was at m.63 for turbulence when the crew noticed the IAS amber flag. The crew stated that the capt and fo airspeeds were not functioning normally. The aircraft speed indication continued to reduce to below 180KIAS when the crew switched to the backup isis system. The stall protection system (sps) indicator also illuminated at this time. A descent to lower altitude was initiated using the isis when the crew noticed a marked increase in cockpit wind noise. Suspecting the aircraft was close to the high speed buffet regime , the crew leveled off and reduced airspeed. In the descent, the crew stated that the capt and fo airspeed indications reduced even further, however, in further descent, the airspeed indicators returned to normal operation. An emergency was declared and the crew landed without incident. No avionics or airframe discrepanices were found during the maintenance post flight.

As the FAA filed it
