What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(X49). The owner had just moved the airplane to the tee hangar to put it away. He said he heard a sound and walked to the right side of the airplane to see what it was and saw that a fire had started under the right side, in the grass (where the fuel quick drain was). He went in the hangar to get a fire extinguisher and when he got back the fire had destroyed the airplane. The aircraft was completely destroyed by fire that melted the aluminum fuselage.
