From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omitted Was the CFI on a training flight in a R-22 helicopter. After landing on runway 34R at Manassas airport (hef), the aircraft exited the runway on to taxiway b. the CFI told the student to perform a hovering autorotation. The student rolled of the throttle, corrected for yaw, and then rasied the collective prematurely. This caused a hard landing. The CFI taxied the aircraft to the ramp and after shutdown noticied it was leaning aft and to the left.
