What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The PIC reported a "wisping" sound which he believed was coming from a main rotor blade tape peeling off. About 5 seconds later he heard a loud noise and vibration. The vibration turned into a pronounced verical hop. He made a landing on a rural road way. There was no damage to the aircraft. Upon landing he inspected the main rotor blades and noticed that one (1) blade on the outboard lower surface has some material tape covering peeling back. He therefore contacted the director of maintenance and informed him about the main rotor blade tape peeling back.
