From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Flight instructor stated that after 2 touch and goes at the Palmer Airport that the engine quit on climb out at approximately 500 feet MSL. There was some confusion on which tank the fuel selector was positioned to and how much fuel was onboard the aircraft. The pilot receiving flight instruction indicated that the left tank showed 1/4 and the right tank showed 3/8 on the fuel gauges. The aircraft landed hard in a hayfield near the airport collapsing the main landing gear and damaging the propeller when it contacted the ground.
