From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N6JR entered a left downwind for ruway 18R. The pilot turned base abeam the air traffic control tower and descended to about 100 feet AGL. The pilot overshot the final approach for runway 18R and banked left (eastward) over the parallel taxiway to the west of it. The pilot does not realign with runway 18R but stops turning over the "paved ditch." Power momentarily increases then decreases and the aircraft descends over the "paved ditch" until it contacts the ground in a right bank toward the crowd. Still photos show the elevator deflected upward from just before the nose and wing drop until just before impact.

As the FAA filed it
