From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omittedFueled the aircraft and departed on a personal/pleasure flight in the local area. Approximately 30 minutes into the flight the pilot started practicing maneuvers. During a steep turn the engine sputtered briefly. Next the pilot practiced an accelerated stall during which the engine quit. A restart was attempted but was unsucessful. An attempt to return to the airport (5NM away) was made, but the pilot decided that the airport was beyond the glide distance of the aircraft and decided to land in a soy bean field. The landing in the field resulted in the aircraft flipping over.
