From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot took off from wilson bar airstrip in the Idaho back country on a part 91 reposition flight. During the approach to land at south fork ranch in the Idaho back country the approach is in a river canyon. The pilot flew down river and was making a 180 degree turn while in the canyon in order to set up for the final approach and landing. The pilot did not ensure the area was wide enough to complete the turn. As the pilot was about to complete the turn he was unable to tighten the turn sufficiently and struck a rocky point with the rt MLG and nose gear. The rt MLG was broken off the aircraft as well as the nose wheel and fork. The aircraft continued to fly and the decision was made to continue the flight to Cascade, ID. The aircraft touched down in Cascade and slid about 100 ft then nosed over and ended up on its back.
