From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot had departed elma, WA for a flight out to the coast and was planning on returning to elma, WA where the aircraft is based. The pilot stated that during cruise flight the engine began to run rough. Pilot added full power and engine roughness cleared up. When he reduced to cruise power, engine would start running rough again and this recurred on several attempts to clear the engine. The pilot stated that he thought maybe he was getting carb ice, so he elected to do an emergency landing on the beach at Tokeland, WA.
