From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omitted Inadvertently/incorrectly installed the nose gear centering spring assembly attachment hardware bolt and retaining nut (404 322, AN316-4R) 180 degree opposite orientation as specified in the Piper seneca ii service manual, ref. 7-8 assembly. The result was a chaff/rub contact of nut 404 322 with the perpendicular rotating nose landing gear door tube. Upon nose gear retraction the nut gouged approximately a 3/4 inch groove in the tube radius surface restricting the landing gear from a subsequent extention due to insufficient clearance with the rotating landing gear door tube assembly.
