From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 22, 2010 at approximately 1308, student pilot was conducting his first solo flight in N348ME, CE-172S, at Collin County Regional Airport. During the second takeoff attempt from runway 17, the student pilot aborted and ran off the runway to the left. The aircraft traveled approximately 495 feet in the grass and ran off an approximately 15FT high concrete embankment into a ditch. The nose and left gear collapsed; and the left wing and the propeller struck the ground. The student pilot was able to exit the aircraft and did not report any injuries. Onsite assessment of the accident revealed tire marks on the runway from the left tire only. The tire marks start approximately 50FT after the 6000FT runway marker and the aircraft exited the runway approximatly 200FT after the 6000FT marker. Offsite assessment of the aircraft revealed both the left and right tires to be in good condition. The left wheel was able to move freely between the brake pads but had a substantial wobble. The wheel assembly was removed to identify any mechanical issues. There was no indication of a bearing/brake failure and the axle had evidence of impact damage and was fractured. Collin County Regional Airport is not a certificated airport and the new construction created a hazard (15 ft concrete embankment and ditch) located just outside of the runway safe area.

As the FAA filed it
