From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At 0923 local time in ewr, N567FE an MD10 was parked on fedx spot 1 at ewr. N399FE another MD10 was parked on the center line and being deiced by a bucket truck being operated by omni serve (a vendor). While the bucket truck was moving off of the RH wing on N399FE it swung wide and the bucket contacted and damaged the LH ob te elevator which grounded N567FE. The collision between the bucket and the aircraft caused the bucket operator to injure his back. N567FE was loaded for departure. The captain was in the cockpit and the first officer was outside doing his walk around when the collision occurred. There was a ramp agent on board at the time of the collision. The only injury reported was to the operator of the bucket. The LH ob te elevator was replaced (and ops checked good iaw mm 27-30-02-4) due to the damage caused by the collision with the bucket. According to the statements of the truck driver and bucket operator communication between them was obscured by aircraft engine and APU noise. The bucket operator stated he was sceaming for the truck to stop and the truck driver stated that he did not hear the bucket operator.
