From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot planned his flight from richland, WA. (Rld) to Othello WA. (S70) and return. Upon arrival at (S70) pilot flew over the airport and observed the airport conditions and windsock. He estimated winds from the north at 5 knots. Pilot entered a right traffic pattern for runway 25. On final pilot noted the windsock was whipping around indicating increased winds and intermediate gusts. He stated he corrected using ailerons to stop his drift south of the runway. As he tried to touchdown the aircraft began to bounce around. When he finally touched down the aircraft immediately veered left (south) off the asphalt, and missing a runway light. He then entered some gravel pulling the aircraft even more left continuing down a drop off toward a plowed field. He continued straight ahead toward the plowed field thinking he could rollout there, however, about 15-20 feet into the field the wheels dug in and the aircraft flipped over. As he hung upside down, he turned off all electrical switches and was able to unlatch his seat belt and exited the aircraft. Pilot sustained a minor injury to his head. There was no post accident fire.
