From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 11, 2011, N112AN departed destin, Florida (dts) headed to temple, Texas. The aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 1000' AGL at approximately 70% engine power for level flight. At approximately 12:15PM CST the pilot reported that the engine made a loud metallic banging noise with an accompanied severe vibration. The engine throttle was retarded and the propeller feathered for an emergency landing into a large field in Loxley, Alabama. Once the aircraft touched down the landing gear began to dig into the fresh plowed dirt causing the left main landing gear to collapse and the aircraft to roll upside down to a full stop. The aircraft received substantial damage to the wings, tail section and aircraft firewall. No injuries were reported during the accident.
