From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Special flight permit issued 04/19/2011 to reposition aircraft from AK77 (Deltana) to lake hood (anchorage) for annual inspection. Carriage of cargo, or persons other than essential crew for flight was prohibited. Aircraft departed AK77 on ferry flight to lake hood 04/20/2011 at approximately 14:00 akdst with a person on board that was not essential crew for the flight. Pilot reported orbiting AK77 for "15 to 20 minutes" in order for him to "get the feel" of the aircraft and become confident it was safe for the intended flight. Pilot reported that shortly after turning south for lake hood, oil temperature began to rise and engine power began to decrease forcing an emergency landing on the tundra of Fort Greely 9.2 miles from AK77. Aircraft experienced a prop strike and damage to the landing gear. Pilot repoted having no previous time in this make/model. This software will not accept any less time than one hour in make/model.
