From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

6/15/2011 At approximately 1830 adt (6/16/2011, 0230Z) received information regarding a suspected accident in the Mccarthy, AK area involving a PA-18 that flipped over on a gravel bar along a river.6/21/2011: ASI from the anc FSDO spoke with the PIC by phone and received preliminary information to start the investigation. PIC agreed to provide copies of records to the anc FSDO when he returned to his home in Washington state. PIC reported that after landing on the gravel bar along the tana river, he was back taxi-ing the aircraft to make room for others to land and a strong gust of wind came from behind the aircraft and the aircraft flipped. 6/22/2011: aircraft was removed from the scene by helicopter and transfered to Mccarthy airport for transport by trailer to wasilla, AK. Aircraft was examined by an ASI from the anc FSDO at the wasilla location. Damage appeared to be much less than originally reported. No damage to the control surfaces was evident and there did not appear to be major damage to the fuselage or wings. However, during conversation with the NTSB investigator, ASI found that the wing struts were damage and would need to be replaced causing this event to be classified as an accident.
