What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 7-2-11 pilot was approaching to land on runway 14 at Rapid City, SD. Aircraft was sequenced ahead of an inbound regional jet and the pilot said he was too fast to extend the gear. He said he brought the power back, put down flaps and was attempting to get the speed below gear extension speed. The gear warning horn was working but the pilot failed to put the gear down before touchdown. The pilot and passenger were not injured and the aircraft received minor damage to the belly, prop and gear doors.
