From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omittedPIC was repositioning the aircraft to Welsh, LA, with a passenger on board. Had just completed slow flight maneuver at 2000 feet and upon advancing throttle, the engine remained at idle. Momentarily advanced throttle to a higher power setting but no increase in power, then returned the throttle to idle. Selected road on which to land but discovered telephone wires across road. Selected second site perpendicular to interstate I-10. Pilot feared he would be unable to stop prior to reaching I-10 so he drifted over a cane field next to the road, impacting the cane rows and flipping over. Aircraft was destroyed and no injuries reported. Pilot out of a biennial flight review and aircraft low on fuel for length of flight.
