From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot told the ASI, he performed a two point landing at a remote, off-airport strip called "Snag River Camp" with 4 passengers from the national park service on board. Upon touch down of the tail, the tail wheel broke free from the airplane. He stated, according to witnessess, it appeared that the tail wheel struck a 3 to 4 inch rise at the threshold of the strip. After the tail wheel broke off, the airplane maintained directional control and slid to a stop. No persons or property was injured or damaged. An examination of the airplane by the ASI on 8/10/2011 showed structural damage to the fuselage at the canted frame 245 and the underside of the right side elevator.
