From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed private airstrip (X65) to perform pattern work at Sherman municipal airport (swi). After a touch and go the engine sputtered and lost power. The PIC made a left turn near the crosswind leg and attempted an emergency landing in a field southeast of the airport. The aircraft clipped the top of a hedge row of trees resulting in a hard landing in the adjacent field. Both PIC and passenger sustained injuries and were transported to the local hospital. Inspection of the aircraft on scene revealed that the left fuel tank was empty and the right tank had some residual fuel.
