From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was on final to a private landing strip south of bakersfield at 2000 feet AGL when the engine began to run rough and the aircraft began to vibrate. Also, the engine lost oil pressure, RPM, and manifold pressure. The pilot set up a glide descent after declaring an emergency and landed the aircraft in a field about one mile short of the runway. On touchdown in the soft field, the nose landing gear was sheared off. The propeller was damaged. Two large holes in the crankcase were visible. There appeared to be no damage to the flight controls, wings, firewall, or fuselage. There were no injuries.
