From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Approximately 14:20HRS local on September 10, 2011,at the spartenburg airport (spa) the pilot of N866SC, a highlander light sport aircraft attempted to depart on a local flight. The pilot stated that he and other aircraft were flying afghan war veterans around the area. He attempted to depart shortly after the departure of a Boeing stearman and another plane. He stated that the airplane lifted off normally and at about 20-25 feet the right wing began to stall, the aircraft rolled right and "pancaked on the landing gear." Pilot stated he feels he was caught in the wake turbulance created from the stearmans departure and should have delayed his longer than he did. VFR conditions prevailed. No mechanical issues were indicated.
