From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

It was reported by the instructor and student pilot in written statements, as well as interviews with the ASI, that during final approach the instructor initiated a power off emergency landing during a final stage exam. The student was approaching the runway too low and the instructor informed the student twice of the situation. As the aircraft continued on the same flight path the instructor added power to the aircraft but it was too late and the aircraft landed short of the runway striking the end of runway light with the right hand flap. The student reacting to the collision pressed the brakes but only hitting the left hand brake which caused the aircraft to turn left and running off the runway hitting the PAPI. The aircraft continued taxing until it reaches the FBO where the CFI reported it to the FAA. Damage consisted of minor damage to the left hand aileron and wing tip right flap, landing gear leg/spring.
