What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Nose gear pivot was cracked around the welded radius of the strut. It dropped from the aircraft upon landing. The pilot stated that he did not notice that the nose tire assembly was missing until he turned left on to the taxiway and then the nose strut and propeller struck the ground. Then, the aircraft stopped when the front gear strut mount bolt sheared and the gear nose gear strut folded under the fuselage. The pilot's e-mail statement is as follows:
On Sunday, November 6, 2016 around 11AM I was landing at kahn. When I landed, and the nose gear came down it sounded and felt very wrong, with a lot of vibration. I added some power and back pressure to keep weight off what I thought was a flat tire. I exited the runway at the first taxiway, and as I slowed the nose came all the way down, and the strut collapsed.
