From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Eyewitnesses estimated winds at the site from approx 10-20 knots, oriented directly across rwy 18/36. Pilot made three attempts to land: twice to rwy 36 and a final attempt to rwy 18. On the third attempt, the aircraft settled into the terrain approx 400 feet short of the approach end of rwy 18, oriented along the extended centerline. The nose gear separated from the aircraft, causing the nose to dig into the ground, flipping the airplane over onto its back.

As the FAA filed it

ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT, THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED INTO THE TERRAIN APPROX 400 FEET SHORT OF THE APPROACH END OF RWY 18, ORIENTED ALONG THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE. THE NOSE GEAR SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT, CAUSING THE NOSE TO DIG INTO THE GROUND, FLIPPING THE AIRPLANE OVER ONTO ITS BACK.
