From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot departed jackson county airport (I18), WV for clermont county airport (I69), OH. While attempting to retract the landing gear after take-off, the left main landing gear would not retract completely. Four attempts were made at I18 to cycle the gear back down and the left main landing gear would not extend to the down and locked position. The pilot flew the aircraft to Yeager Airport (crw), WV to make an emergency landing. Enroute to crw three more attempts were made to extend the landing gear. The pilot attempted to pump the gear down as per the emergency procedures, but was unable to do so. An emergency was declared by the pilot at crw and the pilot landed with the landing gear retracted on runway 23. The aircraft propeller sustained damage and the underside of the aircraft sustained minor damage. The forward underside of the aircraft received minor smoke damage from an external fire due to sparks created by the impact and the forward left belly fuel drain being damaged (causing the fuel to drain)during the landing sequence. The fire was extinguished immediately by the ARFF. The pilot was unhurt.
