From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At 2016 local, pilot took off on runway 02 and while climbing through 2000 ft, a passenger sitting in the right front seat told the pilot that sparks were coming out of the top cowling of the right engine. The pilot verified this and shut down and feathered the engine. The pilot landed long on runway 20 with a tailwind and ran off the runway in soggy turf. The aircraft hit the alpha taxiway sign at runway 02 before departing the runway.
