What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
While enroute back to the departure airport, I69, at an altitude of 6500 feet the pilot experienced an engine anomaly. He noted the engine oil pressure dropping to zero. The engine then experienced a power failure which resulted in smoke and fumes entering the cockpit. The pilot initiated an emergency landing at Clermont County Airport, I69. Upon landing, the pilots visibility impaired by smoke and fumes, the aircraft exited the end of the runway, traveled through a chain link fence and came to rest on a public road. The pilot sustained minor injuries. On scene investigation noted multiple engine case protrusions by internal engine components. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the wings when the aircraft struck the chain link fence. Subsequent investigation determined the engine oil cooler had cracked allowing the oil system to deplete which resulted in a catastrophic engine failure.
