From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While enroute to fat at proximately 2500 ft AGL, PIC noted the engine started to run rough. The PIC attempted to correct with issue by lean the fuel mixture, applying carburetor heat and switching magnetos, but this did not correct the problem. The PIC contacted the fat air traffic control tower and requested priority landing. The PIC made a successful landing and upon exiting the runway, as the PIC advanced the throttle he heard a loud bang and immediately secured the engine. Upon further investigation, it was noted the #3 cylinder, along with the piston , had separated from the engine case.
